ASIC ‘09-’10 would like to present to you the summary of the final Budget Cut Proposal. A lot of rumors and discussions are going on around campus right now about how the curriculum will look starting from next year. Indeed it is the most important change that has affected UCU ever since it’s establishment so the current document hopes to explain the final measures that are being discussed now between the administration, teachers, tutors and students. As you will see in the attachment which you received in the ASIC informs, some of the measures are quite innovative and would require major course redesigning, restructuring and harsh decisions about what is vital to the Liberal Arts and Sciences Education and what needs to go in a time of economical crisis.

The success of this new curriculum, making it work for everyone while maintaining the high quality of our UCU education is a collective effort and the feedback, critiques and comments of all students are vital at this point in time as they will affect not only your course options from now on (especially if you’re a 1st year or a 2nd year) and the value of your diploma in the years to come (note to 3rd years).

ASIC has extensively discussed the proposal with the Student Representatives and has decided to organize separate meetings for each of the 3 department in the next two weeks. These meetings are meant to gather all the students and brainstorm about current proposal.

We would like to stress that your presence there is essential.

The conclusions of the 3 meetings will be centralized and presented to the Dean during a final meeting (the date will be announced later on).
