The Red Cross Studentendesk Utrecht has a nice project for all the Dutch speaking peeps out there, called Tilvi (Sry non-dutch speaking peeps☹)
Tilvi stands for ´Taal is Leuk voor Iedereen´! (Language is fun for everyone) The goal of this project is to help allochtonous children (age 4-6) who are dealing with language difficulties. Often it is the case that their parents speak Dutch poorly, whereas their primary schools often do not have the time or the means to deal with their language problems. The Red Cross Studentendesk wants to do something with this project!
The idea is to start with a pilot. It will be held 2 afternoons a week, somewhere from week 21 until 23(exact dates will follow soon). In these afternoons, you and someone else will guide a small group (around 5 kiddies) by interactive with language: i.e. introducing each other and read out stories to them. Hereby they will be introduced to the language quicker and stimulated to learn the language as well!
The pilot will include 3rd grade kids (groep 3) of the primary school, the panda, either at a local library or at the school itself.
If the pilot turns out to be a success, the plan is to expand to more classes, more schools and to commit the parents to this project as well!
Are you;
- Into your community and do you want to create change?
- Fluent in dutch?
- motivate to work with children in the age of 4-6?
For this pilot we need 8 people, but the more the merrier!
Act! If interested mail to this address: kzheng@redcross.nl!
