Improve Transparency

UC –students have often been blamed for their lack of interest in the affairs of the college. The attendance at the Agoras the last few years has been appalling and this has also had its effect on the credibility of ASIC towards the administration. Putting the blame on the students, however, would be too easy of a way out. ASIC’s role in this lack of commitment cannot be overlooked and that is why we decided that this year we would do all we can to allow students to actually be involved. This means that we will be openly and actively transparent.

The first step in bringing this transparency to you is the section on the website called transparency (underneath student involvement) which you can find here. On this page you can find all the information about the dates of the College Council meetings (which are open to everybody) and you have the opportunity to ask for additional documents and to sign up to the ASIC newsletter, which will be explained below.

The ASIC newsletter is the second part of our plan to be more transparent. The ASIC newsletter will be an e-mail sent out to students that signed up for it, giving information about what ASIC is working on. This means that these newsletters contain minutes of the meetings we have, our comments on these meetings and in depth information about the issues at hand. Of course, we could use the ASIC informs for this purpose but we believe, unless it is very big news, that not all students are interested in receiving this information and that, therefore, we should not include it to make sure that students will continue to read our informs.
