UCSA & ASIC

UCSA logo smallASIC is the official student body representative, ensuring the academic and residential quality at U.C. The University College Student Association, the UCSA, is the organization which deals with the other very important aspect of campus life: our social life. The UCSA is in charge of managing a large number of committees which each organize a host of different activities and events, such as plays, music performances and art exhibitions. The difference between ASIC and the UCSA is also an organizational one: the UCSA is an association, governed by the Student’s General Assembly, whereas ASIC is an elected Council of Representatives. Hence, ASIC, unlike the UCSA, has no members other than the Council’s five. Together, ASIC and the UCSA take care of all U.C Students’ needs: Social, Academic and Residential.

Sometimes it is not very clear if something going on on campus would fall under ASIC or UCSA responsability. Therefore, both student bodies stay in close contact with each other and try to cooperate when necessary. Examples: ASIC was assigned 3000 euro’s in the General Assembly of the UCSA at the beginning of the Academic Year 2005-2006. This money was spent on ‘Long Term Investments’, which this year meant the improvement of the currently library system and investments in expansion of this library.
